What is best for trimming a dog's nails?
I am hesitant on taking my pooch to the groomer because she goes nuts and will not sit down if other doggies are around. We will take her to the groomer if the PediPaws Pet Nail Trimmer is not a good idea. Yes, we do take her to training classes to help her socialize.
A friend of mine bought one and it is pretty much useless. They are basically underpowered Dremels with a 'guard'. The guard gets in the way when you are trying to round off the tip and I personally think that it makes 'quicking' the dog more likely because you can't see how far down you are grinding. They are also very very slow and noisier than a Dremel.
However, a standard cordless Dremel from a hardware store, fitted with a small sanding drum, works great! It quickly grinds them down, is easy to maneuver, fairly quiet, and none of my pets mind it at all (but most hated their nails being clipped). I use it on both my dogs and all of my rabbits. I would highlyr ecommend it.
