Knitting Problem... Help!?

I am knitting a baby "snuggle" basically it's like a sack with a zipper, hood, legs, and arms etc. I have finished the left front and the right front, and now I must move on to the back. The problem is that I just don't understand the directions at this point:

back

right back
Work to ## of Right Front and leave sts on spare needle.
left back
Work to ## of Left Front and cont as folls:
back
33rd row K48 from left back, cast on 1 st, k48 from right back. 97 sts.
.......

I guess my questions are... what does it mean when it just says Work to ##( I think I understand that the ## is a marker i put on both sides at the 32nd row) but what does it mean to just work to it?? It doesn't tell me where to start... how many to cast on... and then on the 33rd row i just start knitting? Oh man am I totally confused.

Please help... if you can... if you need more of the instructions I can add them!

Work right back exactly as for right front from beginning to ##
Work left back exactly as for left front from beginning to ##
Presumably from what you have written you will have 48sts remaining from both pieces on needles
Row 33:- knit the 48sts from left back then cast on 1st then knit straight across the 48sts of the right back - you will now have 97sts on your needle.
Continue as per pattern instructions from this point.
